I want to help you decide if I'm the photographer for you so here's a bit about me and a few more of my photos.
I'm Bex and you may have already noticed that I adore colour! Give me all the bright, rainbow colours and I'm happy. I live in the Sussex countryside with my lovely husband and gorgeous 3-year-old boy/girl twins. The twins' bedroom and wardrobe is also filled with rainbows and bright colours, we're an adventurous bunch and love to have fun at local family-friendly festivals and events.
I have way too many hobbies including horse riding, reading (mainly crime novels but I enjoy a wide variety of genres), writing and crafts - making rainbow pom poms to adorn my flip-flops has been my latest project but I'll mostly be found with a camera in my hands! I'm also a total foodie so if you have any fab recipes or recommendations of great places to eat, I'd love to hear them!
I want to capture natural photos of your family, your story in those quiet or crazy times at home, the fun you have at the park or exploring the woods, the connections between you. I love recording the little details you won't want to forget - tiny toes, wisps of hair, the cuddles, the smiles...
The things that make your heart skip.

I'm based in Uckfield, East Sussex and we love it here. We're so lucky to have Ashdown Forest and the South Downs on our doorstep and the beach not far away. I cover all local areas from Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent, down to Lewes, Eastbourne and Brighton. If you're further afield but are interested in booking one of my packages, please do get in touch to discuss the possibilities.
As for my photographic style, I have a documentary lifestyle approach so I won't be asking you to pose awkwardly and smile at my camera. I will give minimal direction to get the best light and capture beautiful, natural moments of your family together and be warned, I may climb on your furniture! Your session with me will be fun - I always enjoy making it an experience you'll remember, giving you photos that preserve the memory of your life at this moment.
I have had family sessions done myself and truly value the investment in preserving those memories. Personally I'd much rather spend my money on photography and experiences rather than "stuff". I see our photo albums as the keepsakes I'll want to look at in the future and pass on to my children. I also really enjoyed the session time with my family, concentrating on just being together while a professional made it look beautiful but real. The whole experience was fun and we treasure the photos, it's so rare for us all to be in them!
I'd love to do the same for you, I'll basically come and hang out with your family, taking photos of you enjoying being together. I want to capture the real love for you, the special moments and little details you'll want to remember forever and display in your home.
You can see more examples in my portfolio here.
I caught the photography bug during my round the world trip as a student back in 2004, that experience of travelling solo, making friends out of strangers and exploring amazing places is something that will never leave me. I went swimming with humpback whales in Tonga, bungee jumping in Cairns, skydiving in New Zealand, worked with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in the Australian outback, earned my first PADI qualification on the Great Barrier Reef and learned to surf at Byron Bay. I have such fond memories of that amazing trip and the fun photos to match.
The following summer, I was given my first DSLR as a graduation present and soon developed a love of landscape and nature photography which also progressed to underwater photography, combined with my hobby of scuba diving.
My love of family photography started with the birth of our twins. After suffering heartache throughout our seemingly hopeless IVF treatment, I wanted to document everything when our little bundles beat the odds, I love having our everyday moments on display in our home!
I get so much joy from creating art for other families, be it in your own home where you're most comfortable or out and about doing something that you love, I will relish finding the best light and recording this time for you in the most magical way.
So, if you fancy showing me your colours, get in touch via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) to find out more and discuss next steps and maybe even get you booked into my diary.
How it all started
Lifestyle Photographers Association
The LSPA: "Lifestyle photography is an updated approach to the stiff, dated portrait sessions that used to take place in the studios. Instead of corralling the subjects into an environment they are not familiar with and placing a paper backdrop behind them, the lifestyle photographer goes to the location of your choice with you to create authentic and artistic portraits that you will treasure forever."
