Havet - Eat out to help out

Nik's had some annual leave recently and as we are staying put we've been planning some local day trips as well as making the most of the government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme in local restaurants that we've been meaning to try out.

Last week was ideal to eat out as it was far too hot to be in the kitchen so we called around a few places in search of somewhere with air conditioning! So many places were already booked up - the scheme is clearly working - but we eventually found a table at Havet in Tunbridge Wells.

It was very well organised with clear signage on where to wait, hand gel as you entered and screens up between tables for added protection. The servers all wore visors and although it's all a bit strange, it's all part of our new normal and we're feeling ready to get out and about a bit more. I'm so glad we went as we had a wonderful meal, Kalyan declared it the "best restaurant ever!"

Kalyan chose the Kofte meatballs, P went for Chicken lollipops, each served with a wrap, they both chose fries and veg sticks on the side - the kids' menu had a mix and match selection which also included a drink and an ice-cream or ice-lolly for dessert, all for £6.95.

Nik and I chose a sharing platter, choosing from the grilled meat selections we opted for two lamb and two chicken and they were all amazing! These were served on wraps and we got to choose some sides to go with them - we opted for the cabbage salad, the traditional rice and halloumi sticks (K is a big lover of halloumi!) We initially thought we might struggle to eat it all and would take some home but it was SO delicious and we are such gannets, we polished off the lot!

I tried the Elderflower cocktail too which was also lovely. It was just so nice to be eating out for dinner again and enjoying such treats, especially at half the price!

I would definitely recommend them and we'll be going back, even when it's full price.
