Wood-fired deliciousness at The Hurstwood pub, East Sussex review

Yep, we've been eating The Hurstwood's amazing food again, can you blame us? Despite their gastropub in High Hurstwood, Uckfield having to close due to the pandemic, they are managing to continue serving the local community with their amazing food albeit at a distance. You may have seen my previous post where I took some photos of their social distancing measures when we picked up a takeaway a couple of weeks ago.

Since then they have a new toy! A brand new wood-fired oven on the decking, it's huge and they have a special menu on Thursdays just for this. It consists of a selection of salads and varied oven roasted delights.

Nik chose the chicken leg and I went for my old favourite, pork belly, the prices include your choice of 3 salads. We both had the beetroot and butternut squash options then Nik had chickpeas and I had the asparagus one. They were all AMAZING and so filling! We'll definitely be ordering from this menu again, I hope the weather holds out!!

I also treated myself to a batch of their homemade kimchi which I am getting quite addicted to! Turns out it's amazing with a baked potato too and I had some with my pork and salads on Thursday. Yum! They have a few deli items for sale alongside their menus and of course, beers, cider and wines can be purchased as part of your takeaway too! It's nice to have a treat and support our local businesses to stay open too :)
