Young Minds Charity Portrait Project

I'm looking to work with local businesses who want to boost their online presence with a professional portrait to use on their social media/website. I want to do this as a way to support local businesses in my community and also wanted to use the opportunity to raise some cash and awareness for a charity close to my heart. It also needs to be fun and fit with my own brand so I was thinking of some way to incorporate bright, happy colours.

I've chosen to support Young Minds and it turns out this is their 25th year!

Young Minds fits the bill in more than one way both their mission and their bright, yellow logo. They are working to help support children and adolescents (and their parents) with their mental health...

"We’re leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges. We’re here to make sure they get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties. The crisis in children and young people’s mental health is real and it is urgent. More children and young people than ever before are reaching out for help with their mental health. But for those who take that brave step, help is much too hard to find. Together, we are changing this. We’re fighting for young people’s mental health. Join our fight."

I've suffered with mental health problems myself which I have talked openly about on my blog. It's something I worry about as a mother to young twins as well, I want them to understand the mental challenges I faced in becoming a mother and also to place importance on their own mental as well as physical health. Plus the logo colour is yellow which will be great to incorporate into the photos to raise awareness and fits with my style including the bright colour too. Hopefully with this happy colour we can bring joy to more people.

I'm asking for a suggested donation of £50 from each business in return for their portrait as well as helping to raise awareness by mentioning the charity when they share their image. (Minimum donation £20 if you're a small business just getting started.)

I've started with a self portrait of myself and am searching for more businesses, big and small, to participate. Please let me know if you'd like to take part via my contact page. I only have the capacity to work with 25 supportive businesses before October 10th 2019 (World Mental Health Day) when I intend to share the gallery using #HelloYellow as part of Young Minds' campaign, so sign up quickly!

If you just want to make a donation, please do so via Virgin Money Giving: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/bexphoto

Of course, your portrait won't have to be quite so silly. I am used to making crazy faces and being fun when working with kids but you're not expected to don pineapple glasses and act silly, I will work with your business to tailor something that fits with your brand's identity but hope to include something yellow, be it holding a simple yellow mug or something in the background.

I'll be blogging about the project and compiling all of the portraits on a Hello Yellow gallery page too so by taking part, you not only get a professional image to use for your business, you get to help a charity and raise awareness of your own business too. I will be sharing this project on my Uckfield FM monthly blog on air and on their website too so even more chance for exposure for the businesses taking part and the charity. It's a win-win. I can't wait to see all the images collected together!
