Foodie Friday - Hartfields Review

Foodie Friday was a feature I used to love writing when I started my old lifestyle blog up in Glasgow many years ago and I decided to bring it back here on the Bexphoto blog, featuring a different foodie business or recipe every Friday. I love supporting independent local businesses so if you know of a great foodie place I should give a shout-out to, please get in touch and let me know! :)

Hartfields in Uckfield recently celebrated their 10th birthday! They've come a long way since their days as a greengrocer and deli, expanding next door in 2018 to create a wonderful café with beautiful décor and a great atmosphere and delicious coffee! Having moved to Uckfield 7 years ago, we missed the early days of Hartfields but have always loved their food & coffee, it's been my favourite brunch spot in Uckfield since before the twins were born!

Top of my list to order is their Sweetcorn Fritter special. If that's on the menu, I always order it! It is heaven on a plate - a stack of delicious fritters piled high with salty halloumi, creamy smashed avocado and surrounded by tangy tomato chutney, topped with a perfectly poached egg and for me, always the optional crispy bacon.

It's not just my favourite place for brunch with friends but also work meetings over coffee.

I found some old photos from 2017 with the twins when I ran a brunch club trying out different local places. I've previously enjoyed the Hartfields breakfast burrito, eggs royale and full breakfast with their homemade baked beans and another favourite which is their avocado & eggs on toast (with added bacon)! Yum!

This week I was there with Paula Barker, a fellow photographer who's Americano came with this super cute mini milk churn.

As you can see, we both loved the fritters, they're definitely still my favourite!

Where's your go-to place for brunch? Let me know in the comments, I love trying new places too :)
