What's it all about?
Founders in Full Colour celebrates business owners with a story to tell and a passion for what they do.
So many founders I meet are doing incredible things but hiding behind their logo. I get it, being photographed feels scary. What do you do with your hands? Will you look awkward?
But people buy from people, and we’re nosy creatures! Your clients want to see the face behind your business. This is a fun, low-pressure way to show up, and you’ll come away with a portrait you’re proud of and a feature that shows off everything you do.
It brings together three of my favourite things: my old Sunday shout outs for local businesses, my charity portrait fundraisers for Rainbow Trust and YoungMinds, and the founder interviews I’ve been dreaming of since 2024. This time, every founder raises money for Family2Family.

WHAT YOU GET
In return for a minimum £50 donation to Family2Family, you’ll get:
- A relaxed portrait session of 10-15 minutes, in natural light, somewhere that feels like you (pets welcome, as always!).
- One professional portrait, ready to use on your website and social media.
- A 10-minute video chat about you and your business, so my audience can get to know the person behind the brand.
- A feature on my blog and Instagram, to showcase your business, with a link back to your website.
Fall in love with more than one photo? Extra images are £30 each.

How It Works
- Apply using the form below. It only takes a few minutes.
- Hear back within two weeks. Places are limited, so I choose founders whose personality and passion really shine through.
- Donate and book. If you’re selected, you’ll make your £50 minimum donation and we’ll find a date that suits you both.
- Share your story. You’ll fill in a short questionnaire, answering as many questions as you like, so there are no surprises on the day.
- Have fun! We’ll do your portraits and a relaxed video chat, in whichever order helps you feel most at ease.
- Get featured. You choose your favourite portrait, check your feature, and then we share it with the world using #FoundersInFullColour!

Who Can Apply?
Anyone who runs their own business in Sussex or the Tunbridge Wells area, whether you’ve been going for ten years or ten weeks. You don’t need to be confident in front of the camera. That’s what I’m here for!

Hi! I’m Bex, and I photograph small businesses and entrepreneurs across Sussex, London and beyond, creating vibrant, story-led images that capture the real person behind the brand.
I’ve been a photographer for over 20 years, and I LOVE seeing founders come alive in front of the camera, with their confidence and personality shining through.
When I’m not behind the lens, you’ll find me binge-watching a series, deep in a good book, or sipping a cocktail (or fizzy water). And in case you hadn’t noticed, I adore colour!
Fair warning: I’ll almost certainly become your friend by the end of the shoot. 🌈

About The Charity
Family2Family is a Crowborough charity founded in 2018 by Hannah Powell and Leila Parker. They collect good-quality baby and children’s clothing, toys, toiletries and essentials, and gift them to families in need across East Sussex. Their incredible work earned them the King’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2025, and every Founders in Full Colour donation helps them reach even more local families.
I’ve kicked things off with a £100 donation of my own and I can’t wait to see how much we raise for this amazing cause.

Everything you need to know before you apply.
Why are you doing this?
As a small business owner myself, I know how hard it can be to put yourself out there, and I love finding ways to give back to my local community. Founders in Full Colour lets me do both: celebrate the brilliant businesses around me, and raise money for a charity making a real difference on my doorstep.
I work part-time as dentist in Crowborough, so Family2Family feels very close to home. And as a mum, I know how much it means when families get a helping hand.
Plus, I’ve been wanting to interview local founders since 2024, and I even wrote the questions back then. This felt like the perfect time to finally bring them to life!
Do I need to be confident in front of the camera?
Not at all! Most of my clients tell me they hate having their photo taken. The session is short, relaxed and full of laughter, and I’ll guide you every step of the way.
What if I don't have a website?
That’s fine. I can link to your Instagram, Etsy shop or wherever people can find you.
Where will we shoot?
Somewhere that feels like you: your workplace, studio, home or a favourite local spot. Travel is included up to 20 minutes from Uckfield, and further afield can often be arranged.
Can I get more than one photo?
Yes! Extra images are £30 each, and you can choose them once you’ve seen your gallery.
What will you ask me in the video chat?
Just a few questions from your questionnaire, so you’ll know what’s coming. It’s a friendly conversation, not a test.
Will my photos be airbrushed?
No. I only remove temporary blemishes, never airbrush or reshape, so you’ll look like you, in full colour.
Where does my donation go?
Your donation goes straight to Family2Family through my Local Giving fundraising page. I’m donating my time and expertise.
If you fall in love with more than one photo, extra images are £30 each, paid to me separately.
I didn't get a place. Can I apply again?
Of course! I take on a small number of founders at a time, so places do open up. Keep an eye on my Instagram.
How will my photos be used?
Your portrait is yours to use on your website, social media and marketing. All I ask is that you please credit @bex.photo when you share it, and tag #FoundersInFullColour so others can find the project.
I’ll use your portrait and video in your Founders in Full Colour feature on my blog and Instagram. You’ll get to check your feature before it goes live. I may also use your photos to promote Bexphoto and the project, including on my website, social media, in press coverage, competitions and publications.
If there’s anything you’d rather I didn’t share, just let me know when you book and I’ll respect that.
