Networking Community

Running a business on your own can get lonely. The Sussex Business Club is my answer to that – a friendly, relaxed monthly meetup for local business owners who want to connect, chat and support each other over a good brunch or a walk in the Sussex countryside.

No membership fees. No pressure. Just good people and good coffee.

"The Sussex Business Club is a friendly, welcoming networking group where you meet people who understand the challenges of running a business, share experiences and offer real support. Meetings alternate between brunch and walking, so you can pick whichever suits you. Personally, I love both. They're two of my favourite things to do, and the bonus is I get to bring my dog too 🐶"  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐  Gayle Rowcroft, Grief Coach

Where & When Do We Meet?

Eggs Benedict on a grey plate in a café in East Sussex.

We meet monthly on the 1st Friday of the month at 9:30am in various local venues. (Although I do occasionally adjust this due to school holidays, etc.)

The idea is to meet up over brunch or whilst “netwalking” to chat all things business, network and just socialise.

We’re always open to suggestions and love trying new places.

Just a few of the places we’ve met at so far:

  • Oast Farm, Buxted
  • Hartfields, Uckfield
  • Spade & Spoon, Staverton’s in Halland
  • Café 212, Uckfield
  • Pink Cabbage, Heathfield
  • The Kitchen at Babylon, Duddleswell
  • Ashdown Forest
  • Coco & Sage, Nutley

"I’ve been part of the Sussex Business Club since the beginning, and I love the relaxed, welcoming feel of this networking community. The monthly mix of brunches and netwalks keeps things fresh and attracts a great variety of people. And I’ve discovered some brilliant places I probably wouldn’t have visited otherwise."

How Did It Start?

Business Brunch Club started as a way for me to connect with other women in business who might struggle to make it to networking events which often seemed to be at times which were tricky for mums in particular – school runs, teatime, etc..

Plus I love brunch!

As a small business owner, it can get a bit lonely working without colleagues.  So I thought I’d start a local group for any business people who’d like to connect.

I started the Uckfield Business Brunch Club, meeting at 9:15am, after the school run in the morning, and I loved it, we soon opened it up to everyone, not just women and mums in business.

Our very first meet-up at Oast Farm, Buxted

Once I started prioritising my health in 2023, I decided to mix things up by alternating between enjoying brunch at various local establishments or a gentle walk in the area, such as Buxted Park or Ashdown Forest. We thought about sticking to one spot but I always wanted to support lots of our fabulous independent cafes and explore new places.

I’ve since also joined in with Henry’s amazing Ashdown Park Hotel netwalking group which I recommend!

Building community is something I care about deeply – in business and in life.

How It Works

Sign up for email reminders via the form above.

Each month I arrange our brunch meeting or netwalk and email an Eventbrite link so you can RSVP.

Come along to the venue and enjoy the walk or order your brunch (you can just have a coffee if you prefer).
It's completely free to join, you just pay for whatever you order at the brunch meetings.
We're based in and around Uckfield - if that's your neck of the woods, come along!
Venues chosen will be in the same area, close to Uckfield, to support other local independent businesses.
Join the Facebook group to connect between meetings, you're welcome to share offers and ask questions.
Follow me on Eventbrite in case you miss my emails.

Fancy A Natter?

Building a business you love takes a village. The Sussex Business Club is one way I try to help build that village – and if you ever want to talk about how your brand photography fits into the picture, I’d love to natter.
