Why A Brand Photography Photoshoot Serves You So Much More Than A Headshot

A Case Study – Brand Photography in Sussex for Jane Griffin.

If you’ve been getting by on an old headshot and a few phone selfies, you’re not alone – and you’re also not stuck. Let me show you what’s possible.

Jane Griffin came to me having built a seriously impressive career – 25+ years in PR, running high-profile campaigns for well-known brands, and now running her own consultancy, Positive Story PR.

On paper, she was the real deal. Online? Her website didn’t convey her personality, it was full of stock images, her only headshot was a decade old, and her social media was a mix of selfies and guesswork.

She knew it wasn’t cutting it with the high-powered tech and industrial companies she wanted to attract. And she was right.

What Jane Needed

Jane wanted a professional, consistent online presence that actually reflected her expertise and personality — not just a smarter headshot, but a whole visual identity she could use across her website, LinkedIn, Instagram and beyond.

She also needed enough content to get started on social media with confidence. She’d already begun an Instagram course but had nothing to post. That was about to change.

Planning the Shoot

Jane opted for my Spectrum package, which gave us a full three hours together – and we made every minute count.

Before we even confirmed the booking, I was already thinking about Jane. Her ideal clients need to see her as reliable, trustworthy, approachable and genuinely expert – so everything we planned had to convey that.

We chose three outfits that matched her brand colours perfectly. Jane sent me photos of each one in advance so we could check they’d work together. We picked a stunning location with grand rooms and beautiful natural light – the kind of setting that says “this woman means business” without having to spell it out.

We made sure to include newspapers as props throughout, given how central the media is to her world. We also wove in touches of her personal passions – art and interiors – to show the human being behind the business. Because that’s what her clients are really buying.

What Jane Received

By the end of the project, Jane had everything she needed to show up online with real confidence:

150+ fully edited images — high resolution for print, web-ready for immediate use on social media and websites. Enough to post something new every day for three months if she wanted to.

Branded social media graphics in Jane’s brand colours, editable so she could swap in her own testimonials and quotes whenever she needed to.

A 30-day social media plan – images and graphics matched to captions, so she knew exactly what to post and when. No more staring at a blank screen.

A selection of Bexphoto Stock photos – exclusive lifestyle images available only to my clients, perfect for filling gaps in your content calendar.

A beautiful showreel – a short, polished video designed to speak directly to her ideal clients and tell her story in seconds.

An Instagram mock-up – to inspire and show how her new feed can look with consistent posting.

The Results

Jane’s Instagram feed went from phone selfies to a polished, professional, completely on-brand presence – almost overnight. The before and after really does show the possibilities.

But more than that, Jane told me the whole experience helped her think about her business differently. When you take the time to plan a shoot properly – really digging into who you are, who you serve and what you want them to feel – you end up with so much more than beautiful photos. You end up with clarity.

“I can’t recommend Bex highly enough – she’s a fantastic person to work with. She takes her job seriously but she’s not a serious person at all. She really wants to make sure you get the best out of your photoshoot and she’s a safe pair of hands.”
