I’ll be honest with you, when Emma first got in touch, I was a little apprehensive.
She was a marketing manager enquiring on behalf of her client rather than for herself, and I always worry slightly about those arrangements. I love connecting directly with the people I’m photographing – getting under the skin of who they are and what their brand means to them. Working through a third party can sometimes make that harder.
I needn’t have worried for a single second.
Emma and I hit it off immediately. Our creative ideas clicked, our energy matched, and even when her client wasn’t quite sure about the vision yet, Emma and I were already completely on the same page. I’m so glad she convinced them to choose me – because what we created together was genuinely something special.

Emma’s Story, In Her Own Words
Emma came to me having used photography in her clients’ marketing for years – but she’d never arranged a brand shoot before. She knew what she wanted to achieve creatively. She just didn’t know how to get there.
The challenges were real: a limited budget, a risk-averse client, and the pressure of convincing them to trust a new supplier with new ideas and a tighter-than-ideal timeline.
“I was worried my client wouldn’t take a risk on a new supplier and new creative ideas,” she told me. “But I was excited to work on something new that I knew had great potential to help their marketing campaigns get more traction.”
What made her choose me in the end?
“Her amazing style of work. Her infectious passion, personality and confidence. I was impressed by her flair for creativity and persistence to get the job done to the best of her ability. Plus her huge support of my creative ideas – and the relationship we quickly forged through feeling totally on the same page.”
The Shoot
We were working with children as models, against the clock, with a long shot list and a client who was still coming around to the vision. None of that is an easy brief.
Emma described the shoot as “buzzy” – which is honestly one of my favourite ways to describe a session that’s firing on all cylinders. We got every shot. Nobody compromised on anything. The energy was brilliant throughout.
And when the images landed?
“They totally exceeded expectations. They make my job a lot easier and I am so proud of the way they came out – they represent the brand perfectly. I’ve even had other brands ask which photographer we use, which has never happened to me before.”
The client, who had been hesitant about the investment and the new ideas, called it the “best shoot we’ve ever done.”
Three Words to Describe the Photos
Clever. Unique. Fun.
And Then This
“Thank you Bex, you literally are amazing in so many ways and I am so glad that I found you.”
That’s the kind of message that makes everything worthwhile.
It’s honestly such a joy when a shoot comes together the way this one did – the planning, the creativity, the trust between us, the results. When all of it clicks, it really does make my heart sing.
Working with a brand on behalf of a client? Or a marketing manager looking for a photographer who gets it and delivers? Let’s have a natter.
