FAQs

Want to make sure I'm the right photographer for you? Good - so do I.
We'll be working closely together and I want you to feel completely confident before you book.
  • Do you take headshots?

Yes, absolutely, they’re an essential part of your brand. But honestly? Once most clients see what a full brand shoot can do, they never look back. Here’s why →

  • What exactly is a personal branding photographer?

A brand photographer does something a standard headshot photographer doesn’t – we capture the whole story of you and your business, not just your face. (But your profile pic will be sorted, don’t worry!)

A full personal branding shoot involves so many more aspects of you and your business.  Behind the scenes, details, whatever product or service you’re selling, even your hobbies.  We’ll cover it all and your gallery will reflect your entire brand to help you attract your ideal clients and grow your business.

  • You’re all about the colour, will I get any black & white photos?

Yes!  I often choose a few which I think look fabulous in black & white and these will be included in your gallery.

I do love colour but sometimes the drama of a good monochrome conversion can work wonders and change the whole image.  You can see some examples of my B&W photos here.

  • How much time will this take?

From first enquiry to receiving your gallery, most clients are looking at around four to six weeks – though this varies depending on your package, availability and how quickly you get your brand workbook back to me!

Like many things, the more you put into this process, the more you will get out of it.  I do the majority of the work, of course, but I do need certain bits & pieces of information from you in advance of your shoot so there is a little bit of “homework” for you to do.  Most of my clients have found this to be really beneficial in getting them to think about their brand properly, some for the first time.

It’s all designed to save you time and stress in the long run and well worth the investment of both time and money so you can see a return on that investment.

Your actual photoshoot time is dependent on the package you choose but most clients opt for 3 hours.

  • How much do you charge?

I’m not the cheapest photographer and I’m proud of that fact – because what you get goes far beyond photographs. I only take on a limited number of shoots per month, so it’s worth getting in touch early to secure your date.

My most popular package includes pre-shoot planning, a three-hour shoot, an edited gallery of around 150 images, a personalised image guide, showreel and social media plan. See full pricing → or book a call for your personalised quote.

  • What should I wear?

Ah, the age old question!  Do not worry about this, when you hire me, I’m with you every step of the way.  We’ll discuss wardrobe ideas during your planning session and then you can send me photos of any outfits you’d like my opinion on.

I’ll help you with ideas of where to shop if you need something new and I’ve even been known to lend my own clothes which perfectly matched a client’s brand colours before!

  • Do you have a studio?

    No.

I specialise in capturing you in your element – real locations, real context, real story. If you’re looking for a plain studio headshot, there are brilliant photographers who specialise in that. But if you want something that truly reflects your brand, I’m your person.

See the next FAQ to see locations that I would recommend instead.

  • Where should we do the photoshoot?

We will usually choose 2-3 locations for a 3 hour shoot.  Often including your office or workspace or a café if you don’t have one.

The rest really depends on your brand.  If you’re an online entrepreneur with high-flying clients, you might want to hire an Airbnb or hotel room for the luxury look and feel but if you’re an artisan baker, we definitely want to capture you in the kitchen covered in flour doing your thing!  Or if you’re all about nature, let’s get outside in the woods.  We’ll figure all this out together so don’t stress about it.

If your home is part of your why or where you work, there are so many opportunities for great photos right where you live.  Please don’t stress about having the perfect home!  It really doesn’t matter if you have a huge house or a small cosy flat, the purpose of our session is to capture you and YOUR story.

  • Will you travel to me?

Yes – in fact, I recommend it, so that we can capture you in your own surroundings and show the authentic you in your element. It’s not essential though, and some clients do travel to me.  I have some great local recommendations of where to stay and locations for shoots depending on what will work best for your brand.

I’m based in Sussex and regularly shoot across the South East, London and beyond. I can also travel internationally with enough notice – so if you live abroad or fancy a destination shoot, just ask! Paris is a favourite and I know some great spots for both photos and food!

I do charge extra for travel outside my local area, and any additional expenses such as flights or overnight stays will always be agreed with you before you commit to booking.

  • What is “storytelling” photography?

It’s pretty much what you’d expect.  Photos designed to tell your story.  Sometimes this can happen in a single image, sometimes it’s the series that tells the story but either way, it’s the best way to let your brand speak for you.

“People buy from people” and your clients want to see you, know you, like you and trust you if they’re going to spend their money with you.

Stand out from your competition by sharing your story as part of your brand identity.  This is why I love to create showreels for my clients, to really convey their message with their new brand photos.

  • How many photos will I get?

    Plenty!

My most popular three-hour session gives you a gallery of around 150 beautifully edited, on-brand images – plus a showreel, social media plan and image guide so you know exactly how to use them.

Everything arrives beautifully organised, with a personalised image guide and social media plan so you always know exactly what to post and where. No guesswork, no overwhelm – just confidence.

  • What if I hate having my photo taken?

Good news – that’s exactly who I work best with. Almost every single one of my clients tells me they dread the camera before we start. And almost every single one forgets about it within the first few minutes. The planning, the laughing, the fact that I guide you through every shot – it all adds up to an experience that genuinely surprises people. Don’t just take my word for it – read what my clients say.

  • How far in advance do I need to book?

I only take on a limited number of shoots each month so I’d recommend getting in touch as soon as you’re thinking about it – popular dates can book up several weeks in advance. Drop me a message and we can start chatting about what works for you.

  • Should I tag you in my images?

If you’re a paying client, you’re never obligated to – though it’s always lovely when you do! A simple “Photo by @bex.photo” in your caption, or a tag on the image itself, helps other people discover my work and lets your followers know exactly who captured these images of you.

If our shoot was a collaboration – a model call, a styled session, or anything where I’ve offered my time freely rather than as a paid booking – crediting and tagging me is part of our agreement and something I’d ask you to honour. It’s a small thing to ask in return for the time and creativity that goes into those shoots.

And it works both ways – whenever I’m tagged, I always like, comment and share the post to my own stories, which helps boost you into a whole new audience too.

Either way, a credit genuinely helps my business grow – and because I’ll be sharing it too, it helps yours grow right alongside it. Win-win.
